[ANSWERED] Unnatural calcium

Berichtdoor rose » zo 02 mei, 2010 20:29

Dear Lyn,

I know that dogs (puppies) need calcium from a natural source for an optimal growth.

But there's still a question unanswered: I want to know the reason why unnatural calcium can be harmfull. And doesn't calcium of raw meaty bones do any harm? If so, is there a chemical difference between calcium from bones and calcium from an unnatural source? Why does the body of the dog (puppy) have so many problems digesting unnatural-calcium?

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks a lot!!

Roos.

My own interpretation is that the body absorbs minerals in conjuction with many co-factors. These co-factors exist in wholefoods, probably many that we have not yet identified.
Calcium in an unnatural form will not be treated in the same way by the digestive system and we are really just guessing at what level to add it to the diet.

Hope that helps
Lyn
